What data do we collect? 

B Academics collects the following data: 

  • Personal identification information (Name, email address, phone number, etc.) 
  • IP Address through analytics software

You directly provide B Academics with most of the data we collect. We collect data and process data when you: 

  • Register online for our events or membership.
  • Voluntarily complete a survey or provide feedback in a form or via email. 
  • Use or view our website via your browser’s cookies. 

How will we use your data? 

B Academics collects your data so that we can: 

  • Process your event or membership registration.
  • Email you events, articles and other items.
  • Allow you to vote in our Board elections
  • Determine the amount of traffic to our website and its origin.

What kind of data will we share with Third Parties?

We may need to transmit certain data to third-party service providers as necessary to accomplish tasks as part of our work as a non-profit and manage your membership. This includes, but is not restricted to – sending emails, sending text messages, processing payments, exporting accounting data and synchronizing mailing lists. Information from third-party service providers may also be used to modify your data. For example, activity reported by your payment processor may be used to insert transactions and update renewal dates. We may share your data with the following external third parties:

What data may be shared as required by law or compliance.? 

We may disclose your data in order to comply with legal requests, legal process, to respond to claims that your data violates the rights of third-parties, or to protect our rights, property or personal safety of our users and the public. It is our policy to promptly process and investigate notices of alleged copyright infringement, and take appropriate actions under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, Title 17, United States Code, Section 512 (“DMCA”). Under no circumstances will we be liable for your data, including, but not limited to, for any errors or omissions in your data, or for any loss or damage of any kind incurred as a result of the use of any data posted, transmitted or otherwise made available via our website and membership offering. You acknowledge that we shall have the right (but not the obligation) to refuse, move or delete any data that is available via our services. We shall also have the right to remove any data that violates these terms, could damage our reputation or goodwill, or is otherwise objectionable in our sole discretion. You must evaluate, and bear all risks associated with, the use of any data.

How do we store your data? 

B Academics does not store your sensitive data (including credit card information and addresses), but uses external Third Parties for data processing that represent they meet the most stringent data compliance laws. These external Third Parties may include, but are not limited to, MembershipWorks, Quickbooks, Stripe, Paypal, and ElectionBuddy. We are not liable for the continued compliance of those Third Party organizations with data regulations or the potential breach of their data servers. B Academics may store data like names and emails via GSuite (Google, Inc- USA) and IP address information via Google Analytics. Personal data will only be retained for the minimum time necessary for the purposes of its treatment or until the User requests its deletion.

At the time the personal data is obtained, the User will be informed about the period during which the personal data will be kept or, when this is not possible, the criteria used to determine this period. 

Marketing 

B Academics would like to send you information about services of ours that we think you might like. If you have agreed to receive marketing, you may always opt out at a later date. 

You have the right at any time to stop B Academics from contacting you for marketing purposes.
